"Last to Brake" (Jarno ja Minä orig.) is a six-episode TV series about motorcycle racing, inspired by the life of Jarno Saarinen. Directed by Simon Kaijser, the series is produced by Funfar Production Company.

The challenge was to create several motorcycle racetrack pits in one location, combining built sets with VFX extensions. Previsualization was utilized as a communication tool to determine how the set coverage worked and which parts were enhanced by VFX. Instead of previsualizing entire scenes, specific shots were created to analyze how everything was laid out within each frame.

3D SketchUp models were received from the art department and imported into Unreal Engine. The location coordinates, rough landscape shapes, and building data were sourced from OSM data. This provided the opportunity to observe how the sun moves across the set, particularly with the long chroma wall used to determine when light begins to hit it and when it falls into shadow.
The Cyclops app, featuring AR capabilities, was used by the VFX supervisor Tuomo Hintikka to explore set elements during the recce and shoot. This is an excellent way to connect future VFX plans on location, allowing everyone on set to see and share insights.
Laskos modified the SketchUp files for this purpose and provided guidance on how to use the app.
